Is MannaKehila really free for the church?

Yes. There is no setup fee, monthly fee, software fee, or maintenance charge for the church. Participating members pay for their own memberships, while the church receives recurring support from those memberships.

For the current pricing details, visit our Financial Details page.

Can I try out MannaKehila as a user, first?

Yes! We'd love you to!

Once launched, there will be options for you to give it a spin as a user in a community with other users to see how handy the app will be for your own community's members. Sign up for launch updates and you'll receive an invitation to try it out when we launch!

How much work does this create for our church?

Very very little! There is some simple initial setup, and your church may occasionally want to moderate its community or promote it to members and friends. But MannaKehila is designed to be a low-maintenance addition to what your church is already doing.

Does our church have to manage subscriptions or collect payments?

No. Members sign up and manage their own subscriptions through MannaKehila. Your church does not need to collect membership payments, keep subscription records, or chase down expired cards.

Who handles technical support?

We do. MannaKehila provides technical support for members, so your church staff does not become the unofficial help desk.

Questions specifically about your church or its community can still be handled by your church as appropriate.

Who can join our MannaKehila community?

Your congregation is only the starting point! Churches can invite any and all family members, friends, former attendees, event visitors, ministry supporters, and others who would enjoy being part of the community.

Use it to grow connections beyond your church and see it as a digital doorstep through which you can invite anyone you want!

Can someone belong to more than one MannaKehila community?

Yes. Someone may participate in more than one church or organization community if they choose. Each community membership is separate, so people decide for themselves which communities they want to support and participate in.

Do members have to share their recipes with everyone?

No. Recipes they upload can be kept private for their own reference, if they wish - but, we love when they do choose to share them!

Members choose whether they want to share a recipe with a community, and they can choose which community or communities receive it. Your grandmother's secret recipe can remain secret if that is where it belongs.

If someone shares a recipe with our church, does the church own it?

No. Sharing a recipe with a community does not transfer ownership of that recipe to the church or to MannaKehila.

The member keeps their recipe. Community sharing simply allows other members of that community to enjoy it.

What if we need to remove a recipe or member from our community?

We really don't foresee much trouble of this sort, but just in case...

Church administrators and moderators will have tools for managing their own community, including removing participants or anything inappropriate when necessary.

MannaKehila handles broader platform issues such as abuse, fraud, security concerns, and other matters that need to be handled beyond the individual church community.

Can church leaders see members' private recipes?

No. A recipe that a member keeps private remains private. Church moderators manage material shared with their community; they do not receive access to someone's personal recipe collection.

What about recipes copied from cookbooks or websites?

MannaKehila allows people to bring recipes into their personal collection in several convenient ways, but sharing and featuring recipes must respect copyright and ownership.

We want MannaKehila to be as convenient and easy as possible! So, we will be integrating easy import steps that seemlessly filter material legally covered by copyright. As a church community, you will not need to worry about this!

Does MannaKehila replace our church app, social media group, website, or online giving?

No—and it does not need to.

MannaKehila is meant to complement the tools and ministries your church already uses. It has a specific purpose: creating an ongoing community around food and recipes while providing another source of recurring support and another way for people to stay connected with your church.

Is MannaKehila supposed to replace tithing or regular giving?

No. We see MannaKehila as something that works alongside normal tithes, offerings, fundraising, and other forms of giving—not in place of them.

That said, technically it could replace an existing tithing app. Not because it is designed to be a tithing app, but because the ability for users to donate additional funds through it monthly means it could fill that role as a function secondary to its core purpose.

We leave that up to you while we focus on the food and community aspects!

What happens to optional additional gifts?

Any optional add-on gift designated for the church goes 100% to that church. MannaKehila does not take a percentage of the gift for itself.

For more detail about memberships, church support, payment processing, and how the financial model works, visit our Financial Details page.

Is payment information secure?

Payments are handled through Stripe, a major third-party payment processor. MannaKehila does not receive or store members' full card information or the church's full banking information.

That sensitive financial information stays within the secure payment-processing system rather than sitting in a MannaKehila database.

What if our church already has an old printed cookbook?

Great! You can import it and make it part of your community!

Access to it can even be part of why people join. Wherever you sell it, why not put a QR code linking people to your community so they can have not only your cookbook recipes, but so much more through the community?

MannaKehila is just another way you can offer it and generate another stream of residual, monthly income.

What happens if our church eventually decides to leave?

Churches are not locked into MannaKehila. If a community becomes inactive, its members' personal recipes still belong to them, though they lose access to the community's recipes.

The current plan also provides a transition period during which the inactive community remains available in a limited, view-only form rather than simply disappearing overnight.

Do we need a large church for this to be worthwhile?

No. A smaller congregation can have a close-knit recipe community, while a larger church may build something much broader.

And participation does not have to stop at the membership roll. Family, friends, former members, ministry contacts, and people reached through church activities can all become part of the community.

Grow beyond your church doors!

What if only a few people participate at first?

That is fine. MannaKehila does not need to launch with hundreds of people to be useful.

A recipe collection can grow gradually, and every participating member adds another person to the community and another source of recurring support for the church.

Are we expected to constantly promote this?

No. We will provide churches with materials and ideas they can use, but MannaKehila is intended to fit naturally into existing church life rather than require a never-ending marketing campaign.

A mention at an event, a QR code on a church bulletin board flyer, a social post, or an occasional reminder may sometimes be all that is appropriate.

How and how much you market your community is your choice. Of course, the more your community grows, the more it benefits from additional member participation and inflow of funds. While we will provide materials and tips to grow your community, how you use them is completely up to you!

Is MannaKehila finished and available now?

MannaKehila is currently in development. We are building and testing the platform before opening it broadly to churches and members.
